Faceted Basket Projects and Video Tutorial

The basket I designed using the Pyramid Pals Thinlits is the featured tutorial on Splitcoaststampers this week!
There are several variations:
A basket
A favor box
A clutch purse

Here a couple others:
Birthday theme

Classic blue purse

Baby theme
I came up with this idea about a year ago.  In making it multiple times have discovered some tips and tricks for simplifying the construction and using paper with different patterns.  This updated tutorial includes those additional suggestions.

Stamp Review Crew: Lift Me Up Edition

Hello and welcome to the latest Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!   This session is focusing on the super popular stamp set Lift Me Up.  Come fly around the world as our international crew showcases this light and happy set.

This set is so fun to use in conjunction with the Carried Away paper that is a free Saleabration item. I used the paper as a jumping off point for this 12 X 12 decor piece.
The Layering Squares Thinlits were a huge help in making the backgrounds.  I used a variety of sizes and a few scallops too.

Then came the fun part of deciding what stamping and embellishing to do.
Selective inking of portions of sentiments with markers

Trimming a doily to create a frame

Using thinlits to paper piece the balloon

Stamp Review Crew: Sunshine Sayings Edition

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew's latest blog hop.  The SRC is an international group of Stamping' Up demonstrators who present a bimonthly blog hop featuring one stamp set.

We are under the direction and awesome coordination of Tanya Boser.   Tanya is amazing!  She keeps us all organized and on track and does so with grace and humor.  Not only that--she is incredibly talented and recently received the distinction of being asked to join the elite Stampin' Up Artisian Team!   She is one awesome friend and today's card is for her.  (I do hope that she looks in her mailbox before checking the blog posts as I was a bit late getting this mailed out!)

The Crew is featuring the Sunshine Sayings stamp set.  It is one of my favorite go-to word sets and can be combined with so many others stamps.  I couldn't resist using the Saleabration set Hey, Chick for Tanya's card.
Tanya's cards always include a fun decorated interior that carries over the theme of the card front. I used the matching Party Animal Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape on both of mine.   I masked a few of the phrases to get the wording I wanted.  A bunch of greetings for a person who does it all! Tanya lives in Minnesota and as a fellow Northerner I know a bit a sunshine is a welcome sight on these cold winter days:)

Thanks for stopping in!  Please click on the buttons below to continue on your way to more Sunshine Sayings!

Stamp Review Crew: SAB Free For All

Ready for some fun!  The Stamp Review Crew is changing it up for this bonus blog hop.  Instead of all using one stamp set we are using any of the 2017 Saleabration products.  And we have a TONS of ideas!

I love Stamping' Up kits for two reasons.  First the predesigned projects are so relaxing to make!  Sometimes I like (I should say NEED) to wind down with crafting late at night but don't want to have to think too hard.  I end up with some really cute things without having to go into go into thinking mode.   The other reason is the kit elements are perfectly coordinated so if I choose to make a different project I have a great head start.

Today I have an alternative project that is still super easy to make.
This is two cards adhered together so that there is a pocket in the middle.   It makes a perfect photo frame with a place for hidden journalling.   I tried to keep any additional supplies to a minimum.  A doily, die cut saying, a bit of ribbon and a scrap of cardstock.

Also it is double-sided!  You can have pictures on both sides and flip it around.
This side uses only an additional stamp set for the Hello Sunshine.  The rest is all included in the kit.

To make this cut the flap off the bottom of one of the cards.
Fold a second card on all score lines and adhere one on top of the other.
I think I will be making a more of these to send to family!

So glad you have joined The Crew for our Salabration Free For All!   Please click on the links below to see more fab ideas!

Stamp Review Crew: Playful Pals

Welcome to our latest Stamp Review Blog Hop!  Every first and third Monday of the month the SRC hosts a hop featuring ideas for one Stampin' Up stamp set.

This session we are using Playful Pals which is a fun builder style set for creating all kinds of animals.  I had a blast making these silly guys.
I got kind of primary school art-ish with these cards and pulled out collage materials.   The sheep's body is a cotton ball pulled into shape.  I also used a few products from the new Party Animal suite- the DSP, washi tape, ribbon and cute little party hat embellishments.
For the goofy bird I glued yellow and orange feathers to a cardstock circle and added the stamped features.   The "Happy Birthday" stamp used on both cards is from the Saleabration set Designer Tee.
Thanks for stopping by!  Please click on the links below to see more Playful Pals projects!

Stamp Review Crew: Sweet Stack Edition

With the cold, snowy weather here in Michigan I am enjoying all things warm and comfy... fire in the fireplace, hot cocoa and warm snuggly kittens (yes we have a new one!)

In my quest for warm and cozy I thought a set of quilt cards would be in order and I chose the tiny stamp with the sweet sentiment "Love You to Pieces" from our featured set Sweet Stack.

I adapted a stack-and-cut quilting technique for use with paper.  This makes a set of five coordinating cards so it is a great stash builder or a wonderful gift set.  Stack five pieces of designer series paper together and cut through the entire stack four times.  Then shuffle the papers and "viola!" five cards are almost done!
Once the quilt pieces are assembled add some hand stitching and pretty little embellishments such as the Sending Love wooden hearts, Lace Doilies and tiny Sprinkles Embellishments.

Please see my video below for the detailed how-to's.  These are really delightful to make!

Well this wraps up the last Stamp Review Crew blog hop of 2016!  BTW we have a great website with all the past blog hops archived.  We already have a jump on planning for 2017 as well so come on back in the new year for more inspiration from the SRC!

Snappy Shaker Card

My brother-in-law always has his camera handy for capturing family memories.  So I made him a birthday shaker card with the great retro style camera from the Pun Intended host stamp set.
One of the niftiest yet inconspicuous items in the main catalog are the Foam Adhesive strips.  They are thicker height-wise than Stampin' Dimensionals and just right for shaker and spinner cards.
Of course this special card needed to be pretty flashy! Glitter Paper stars, metallic thread and Mica Flakes did the trick.
Stamps:  Pun Intended
Paper: Mint Macaron and Whisper White cardstock,  Blooms and Bliss Designer Series Paper
Ink: Dapper Denim
Big Shot:  Layering Squares Framelits
Punches: Classic Label
Accessories: Window Sheets, Adhesive Foam Strips,  Gold Glitter Paper, Mica Flakes Trio Pack, Gold Metallic Thread
